Jamal Khan – President

Jamal is a 3rd year Computing Student. He grew up in sunny Kenya and is now in Imperial College. He is passionate about technology startups and has helped out in events such as Seedcamp (Europe’s largest technology startup accelerator programme). He has had internship experience in Goldman Sachs. If you are interested in growing a startup or connecting to venture capitalists he can help.

Paolo Stampelli – Vice President

Paolo is a second year Biochemistry with Management student and Vice President at Imperial Entrepreneurs. He was born in Italy, and has travelled a lot in his life, living in three continents and visiting all five. His secondary education was completed in Tanzania, where I discovered my love for Africa and my passion for conservation.
He has worked as Vice President of PROMPT, a long term poverty reduction organization focused on developing and promoting small business start-ups and opportunities in the developing world.
As Vice President, his job is to promote the image of the society and increase its visibility both at Imperial and outside.
In addition to travelling, his other great passion is football, both supporting and playing (C’mon Imperial!)

Alexandru Podgurschi – Treasurer

Alexandru is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at Imperial. He comes from Moldova, but has lived in Tanzania for over 3 years. Alex’s past leadership experience include a senior position at PROMPT, a student-led sustainable poverty reduction platform in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, directed at starting local small businesses. He was also a representative in the special commission on ‘Limits to growth’ of the delegation of Togo at the 2009 THIMUN conference in the Hague. Having lived in a multicultural environment for a large part of his life, he has acquired proficiency in several languages, including English, Russian, French and Romanian, his mother tongue. He has been a member of the Imperial Entrepreneurs committee since November 2010 and was elected Head of Finance at the Annual General Meeting in March 2011. Alex is looking forward to working with the newly elected committee of Imperial Entrepreneurs and take part in the society’s further expansion and development.

Máximo Sanz Hernández – Head of Marketing and Media

Máximo is a second year Biotechnology with Management student. His role as the director of media and marketing is to promote the society in creative and powerful ways. He also carries out secretary functions in the society.

He comes from the south of Spain, and has experience regarding entrepreneurship, having developed several business plans back in Spain. He first got involved in the society by participating in the Imperial Apprentice challenge. Máximo loves to get involved and organize events, and of course help in their promotion. He will put a lot of work and effort into his projects and the things he enjoys, and wants to be a part and have an impact on the future of Imperial Entrepreneurs.

Rafal Szymanski – Technical Director

Rafal is a third year computer science student at Imperial College London. He is passionate about technology and its effect on our daily lives. He is also very interested in entrepreneurship, and would like to start his own or be part of a new and exciting technology company. This past summer, Rafal undertook a summer internship at Morgan Stanley where he applied his programming skills in the industry. Rafal is responsible for making sure the IE website works and is up to date.

Nitin Nihalani – Ideas Empowered Director

A young and enthusiastic Computing student, Nitin is the director of Ideas Empowered; one of Imperial Entrepreneur’s two flagship events. He taught himself Flash game programming when he was fifteen years old to quench his thirst for computing, but the range of business skills required to license Flash games ignited his entrepreneurial spirit. These skills blossomed when he joined Imperial Entrepreneurs by competing on the winning team in the debut year of their other flagship event; the London Apprentice Challenge. The leadership and teamwork skills gained from these experiences, coupled with keen knowledge of niche markets and upcoming technology will help him take Ideas Empowered 2011 to a new level while simultaneously boosting Imperial Entrepreneurs as a whole.

Annabelle Mayers – Apprentice Director

Annabelle is a second year Biochemistry student who become involved in the Imperial Entrepreneurs after participating in the Imperial Apprentice 2010. She felt the challenge provided a fantasitc opportunity for students to have hands on experience of working in business. Her involvement in the competition and her previous experience of running a small business led her to apply for the position of ‘Apprentice Director’. She aims to encourage a greater number of students to apply and to make the challenge a high quality, successful and enjoyable event.

Charles Motraghi – Speaker Series Director

Charles is currently a second-year Biotechnology student at Imperial College, and is interested in the various applications of science and technology to industry, agriculture and medicine. He previously undertook a degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol, but decided to switch due to the harder scientific content of biochemistry. As a student there, he was involved with various charitable organisations, including the National Autistic Society, and was the project co-ordinator of Scoot, aimed at drug education for young adults. At Imperial Entrepreneurs, he is tasked with finding speakers with expertise in technology-based entreprise.

Sam Wong – Ambassadors Director

Sam Wong is the Director of Ambassador Program at Imperial Entrepreneurs. Originally from Hong Kong, Sam is a 3rd year Joint Math & Computing in a 4 year MSc Program. Sam previously worked in Groupon China to provide data visualizations and engineered internal tools. He also designed a hands-off business model for his own business. Sam plans to inspire a few selected, motivated ambassadors this year. Encourage and enable them to understand IE, take risks, lead IE to the next level, and ultimately inspire others.
